We have dreamed of running a small Guesthouse in Scotland for a number of years. In 2009 Julie quit her job in marketing and began working for a four star hotel in the Lake District. The following year Stephen took voluntary redundancy from his job in teaching. We put our house on the market and it sold in five hours! Wasting no time we went searching for a business. We spent long hours travelling up and down to Scotland viewing lots of properties for sale. When Carters Rest became available we wondered if destiny was perhaps a little too ironic given the fact that Carter is Stephen's surname and Skye has been a favourite holiday destination for many years. The warmness of the people, together with the beautiful scenery and its history, made it the perfect location for our new venture. We feel very lucky to have found this little gem in Milovaig on the west coast of Skye.
Overseas visitors will be pleased to know that Stephen speaks fluent Spanish and some German.
You might also be interested to know that Stephen has self-published two very successful novels. The first one 'Love Sex and Tesco's Finest Cava' (click image below to view/buy!) was a number one kindle smash last year and currently has over 40,000 copies downloaded.
His new book 'Finding Yourself in Seville' (click image below) has over 17,000 downloads. This means both Stephen's books are currently being read by nearly 60,000 people.
