Meal Times:
Breakfast is served from 8.00 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
Dinner is served from 7.00 p.m. and we require 24 hours notice.
We will always try to accommodate requests for specific menus and times, but due to the small size of our business we cannot always do this.
(We are licensed to offer wines, beers and spirits to our guests.)
Julie puts a great deal of time and thought into producing good quality food at reasonable prices. The menus will include traditional Scottish fare and continental dishes. Where possible, we will using fresh locally sourced ingredients.
Carters Rest Dinner Menu
Potato and vegetable accompaniments to the main meal can be changed to suit on request if notice is given.

Starters
- Homemade Cream of Mushroom soup-made with a selection of mushrooms.
- Homemade Carrot soup- with a hint of fresh chillies
- Fresh Pate with crusty bread
Main course
- Spaghetti Bolognese
- Chicken and Vegetable Stir Fry -with rice or noodles
- Oven baked salmon- cooked with olive oil and lemon. Served with potatoes dish of the day.
- Aberdeen Angus prime Beef Burger- with homemade chips or jacket potato
- Classic Lasagne- made with Aberdeen Angus beef, served with vegetables
- Broccoli and Tomato bake with vegetables
- Chicken Tikka with rice
- Baked Quiche- with pancetta, field mushrooms & shallots, served with jacket potato or homemade chips and vegetables
Desserts
- Lemon Meringue
- Ice cream Chocolate Brownie Cake
- White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake
£18.50 per head options:
Starters any from previous menu plus:
- Chilli King Prawns- pan fried in olive oil, fresh garlic and fresh chillies. Served with rustic bread
- Portobello Mushrooms- oven baked with garlic and spinach then topped with melted blue, or goats cheese.
- Homemade Roasted Tomato and fresh Basil soup-tomatoes are first roasted in the oven with fresh garlic, olive oil and basil.
Main course
- Oven Baked Sea Bass-with fresh rosemary and lemon.
- Beef Casserole in Red Wine sauce- tender pieces of beef slow cooked in the oven in a red wine sauce with a hint of fresh chillies, garlic and ginger. Served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables.
- Sliced Beef in a mild mustard sauce, served with creamy garlic mashed potatoes and green beans
- Fresh Butter Chicken Curry- made with fresh ginger, garlic and chillies. Served with fragrant pilau rice
- Half Oven Roasted Chicken, slow roasted with lemon and garlic, seasoned with sea salt and black pepper. Served with gravy, roast potatoes with rosemary and vegetables.
- Pan Fried Chicken with White Wine Mushroom Sauce-served with vegetables and oven baked potatoes with onions, garlic, olive oil, fresh rosemary and thyme.
Dessert - any from previous menu plus:
- Freshly cooked pancakes served with fresh whipped brandy cream, fresh lemon wedge and sugar
- Profiteroles with Chocolate Sauce
- Apple & Brioche pudding with fresh Custard
£20.00 per head options:
Any starter as above with the main course consisting of:
- Skye Sourced Venison Loin- Pan fried tender Venison steak, served with dauphinoise potatoes and vegetables.
- Fillet Steak cooked to your liking- with option of peppercorn or mushroom sauce. Served with new potatoes coated in fresh parsley, chives and butter with vegetables.
- Herb Crusted Lamb Cutlets- tender lamb cutlets oven baked with garlic, rosemary, thyme, with a hint of balsamic vinegar and mustard. Served with with red wine sauce, garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables
Dessert - any from previous menu plus:
- Fresh Double-Chocolate Cream Mousse with a hint of rum
Breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We buy the best quality products so you can be rest assured that you will have a great selection to choose from without compromises. If you have any requests we will do our best to accommodate. We have a large selection of Twinnings tea's and fruit tea's please ask for your favourite! Coffee is served fresh in cafetieres.

Full Scottish Cooked Breakfast
Ee use eggs from our free range hens and serve them any way you like - fried, scrambled, poached or boiled. We use the best quality back bacon, Stornoway black pudding and fresh pork sausages with herbs (vegetarian sausages available as an option). Fresh mushrooms pan fried in butter with a little black pepper, oven roasted tomatoes, hash browns and Heinz beans will ensure you don't leave the table feeling hungry!
If you want something a little lighter you can choose from the items below:

Made with any or all of the following ingredients - mature cheddar, tomatoes and mushrooms.
Continental Breakfast
Oven baked croissants served with Leerdammer cheese, Philadelphia cheese and cold meat.
We can provide all meals including packed lunches and during the summer months we will have the occasional barbeque. Wines, beers and spirits are available to all our guests.
In the summer months our evening dining offers the most wonderful views over the bay.
There is an excellent restaurant in Dunvegan 'The Old School Restaurant'. However, in the off season it is advisable to check opening hours and in the summer we would advise you to book in advance of your trip.
